ESDC seeks bids for Midtown work

 March 25, 2009

Empire State Development Corporation requests proposals to conduct the removal, transportation, and disposal/recycling of all asbestos-containing materials, hazardous wastes, and universal waste from the locations indicated in the specifications or as directed by the Empire State Development Corps and the City of Rochester (City).  A pre-bid conference is slated for April 2 at Midtown, with abatement contractors meeting at 10 a.m. and air-monitoring consultants at 2 p.m.

Bids are due April 14, with a public bid opening for abatement contractors at 3 p.m. at Midtown and with air-monitoring consultants convening at 5 p.m. at ESDC offices at 400 Andrews Street.

 HUBZones: Historically Underutilized Business Zone

Are you located in a HUBZone? Want to find out if qualify for HUBZone certification? Contact us, we can help.

HOW THE HUBZone PROGRAM WORKS

The US Small Business Administration (SBA) regulates and implements the program and

  • determines which businesses are eligible to receive HUBZone contracts,
  • maintains a listing of qualified HUBZone small businesses that Federal agencies can use to locate vendors,
  • adjudicates protests of eligibility to receive HUBZone contracts, and
  • reports to the Congress on the program's impact on employment and investment in HUBZone areas.

ELIGIBILITY

A small business must meet all of the following criteria to qualify for the HUBZone program:

  • it must be located in a "historically underutilized business zone" or HUBZone.
  • it must be owned and controlled by one or more US Citizens, and
  • at least 35% of its employees must reside in a HUBZone.
